Loss

Everything changes, everything teaches

Loss is a silent shadow that accompanies every moment of our lives. It is not always immediate, nor is it always painful in the most obvious sense of the word, but it is inevitable. Sometimes it is the end of something we have loved, other times it is a change that takes away what we took for granted. What is certain is that nothing remains the same forever. And this is a truth that manifests itself in a thousand forms: in the material things that slip from our hands, in the bonds that dissolve, in the moments that cannot be held.

We live immersed in the flow of time, a river that cannot be stopped, yet too often we delude ourselves into thinking we can ignore it. We believe that everything we have today will still be here tomorrow, that the people we talk to, the places we move through, the emotions we feel, are eternal. But life, with its relentless delicacy, proves otherwise. And it is precisely in this impermanence that its deepest value lies.

If everything were unchangeable, if nothing could ever be lost, the beauty of the moment would dissolve. It would be like living in a world without sunsets, without the thrill of discovery, without the urgency to express what we feel.

Everything exists because it is destined to end.

That is what gives it meaning. That is what drives us to look at the world with more attentive eyes, to value encounters, experiences, and the smallest gestures.

It is not about fearing loss but recognizing it for what it is—an invitation to truly live. Too often, we spend our time chasing certainties, accumulating things, holding on to what should instead be allowed to flow freely. But time waits for no one, and every second that passes is a second that will not return. This does not mean there is a right or wrong way to spend it. It simply means we must be present, aware of our choices, ready to give the right weight to what truly matters to us.

Change is inevitable. Resisting it is like trying to stop the wind with our hands. But we can learn to embrace it, to follow it, to turn it into an opportunity. Every loss makes space for something new, for a path we had not imagined, for a possibility we would not have grasped if we had remained anchored to what once was. Nostalgia can be sweet, but it must not become a chain.

What matters is to live the present fully. To savor each moment without postponing it, without letting it slip away with the promise of a tomorrow that may never come. We cannot stop time, we cannot prevent loss, but we can choose to be alive. To fill our days with what makes us feel real, with what moves us, with what makes us grow.

Because everything changes, everything is lost. But as long as we choose to embrace life as it is, nothing is ever truly wasted.
